Funding from diverse schemes, together with the invaluable contributions of ERIC member countries, have allowed ERICs to deliver access to services, facilities, samples and data across Europe.
With the future of the ERA at our doorstep, ERICs must continue to evolve and expand their outreach, while upholding the highest standards of scientific excellence. Funding schemes that can sustainably provide resources in sufficient volumes will be essential.
The Policy Brief on Funding Models for Access to ERIC Multi/trans-national Services includes key recommendations and you can find it here

The Report of the High-Level Expert Group to Assess the Progress of ESFRI and Other World Class Research Infrastructures Towards Implementation and Long-Term Sustainability is now available!
This High-Level Expert Group (HLEG) was assigned the task of assessing the effectiveness of the EU measures supporting the development of a well-balanced and competitive European Research Infrastructure system. The HLEG was also asked to assess the implementation of a representative group of RIs and their plans for ensuring LTS.
The Report indicates that the European Commission funding instruments have been effective in supporting a number of crucial activities across the RI lifecycle. In particular, the funding instruments have been very effective in supporting the ‘bottom-up’ stages of the lifecycle.

Research related to COVID-19 tests and cure are being supported by European research infrastructures. Several activities are already in place, while others are on their way.
A webpage on services offered to scientists conducting research related to COVID-19 is hosted by the Association of European-Level Research Infrastructures Facilities (ERF-AISBL) here.
ERIC Forum posts news related to COVID reaction on its homepage, while 3 ERICs – namely BBMRI-ERIC, CERIC-ERIC, INSTRUCT – ERIC offer free priority access to the researchers working on COVID-19 related issues.
ERIC Forum along with ERF-AISBL urges all research infrastructures to fill in a questionnaire that could provide with evidence for opening possible new COVID-19 research related calls. The questionnaire is available here.
